About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Speech Therapist to join our team at Baptist Memorial Health Care. As a Speech Therapist, you will be responsible for evaluating and assessing patients to establish functional, measurable goals to promote restoration of functional abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and assess patients to establish functional, measurable goals to promote restoration of functional abilities.
  • Provide treatment according to a written plan of care to meet established goals.
  • Plan for discharge and communicate findings and progress according to professional licensure/certification, scope of practice and departmental/discipline policies and procedures.
  • Produce other reports as needed.
  • May supervise clinical students and support staff including certified/licensed assistants, technicians, and volunteers.
  • Adhere to the ASHA Code of Ethics.
  • Provide a caring relationship that facilitates health, and healing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:

Evaluation and Assessment:

  • Evaluate and assess the patient based on subjective and objective information.
  • Communicate results of the evaluation to patient and other caregivers.

Treatment and Care:

  • Provide treatment according to established goals on plan of care.
  • Document interventions/care in the patient's medical record.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of plan of care and reassess patient's functional status as needed.

Discharge Planning:

  • Provide discharge planning information which includes patient/family education, follow-up, and referral to community resources.

Staff Development and Quality Improvement:

  • Contribute to the development of staff and students.
  • Participate in activities designed to improve health care delivery.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in speech therapy.
  • Licensure, Registration, Certification: Minimum of SLP-CCC; BLS Certification within 14 days of hire; SLP.
  • Special Skills: Basic computer literacy skills such as keyboarding, using a mouse, and navigating sites.
