Histology Specialist

Job Title: Histologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Histologist to join our team at JobRialto. As a Histologist, you will be responsible for preparing thin slices of human, animal, or plant tissue on slides for analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Retrieve specimens from the Surgery Department and receive specimens for other cases when delivered to the Laboratory.
• Sort specimens according to priority and difficulty of procedures and record in pathology log.
• Embed specimens into blocks and fix tissue in formalin.
• Operate instrumentation for tissue dehydration, section clearing, impregnation with paraffin, cutting tissue sections, and staining of slides.
• Prepare solutions, stains, and reagents in accordance with standards written procedures.
• Operate and maintain all histology area lab equipment in proper state of readiness, cleanliness, and sharpen and hone microtome knives.
• Record number of tissue blocks verifying proper identification and label.
• Perform and monitor inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents used, and place orders for replacements as required.
• Assist the Pathologist in gross examination of surgical specimens and in frozen section procedures.

Requirements:

To be successful as a Histologist at JobRialto, you will need to have a strong understanding of histology techniques and procedures. You should be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
