Compensation Range: $16.50-$19.00 per hour

Under the guidance of the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, and Store Supervisor, the Cashier Team Leader is responsible for the following tasks:

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee cashier operations, manage breaks, process returns, handle transactions, and ensure efficient store operations.
  • Organize product displays at the front of the store and assist other departments as necessary.
  • Fill in for open shifts through cross-training, working in various departments, or coordinating with staff for assistance.
  • Exercise sound judgment in customer and employee interactions, addressing situations calmly and professionally.
  • Handle returns with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and set a standard for cashiers to follow.
  • Bag groceries with consideration for customer preferences.
  • Maintain a clean and organized register area, ensuring it is free from dust and debris.
  • Restock and organize products, verifying price accuracy against shelf labels, and marking discrepancies with blue chips.
  • Stay vigilant regarding safety and security protocols.
  • Perform store cleanliness checks, manage go-backs, and oversee cart organization.
  • Provide assistance to colleagues as required.
QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to the following:

Education/Training:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate is required.
Experience:
  • Prior experience in a cashier role is essential.
  • Strong mathematical skills are necessary.
Knowledge of:
  • Proficient verbal communication in English, with advanced reading and writing capabilities.
  • Team leadership skills.
Skills Required:
  • Exemplify outstanding customer service and hold team members accountable for similar standards.
  • Be prepared to cover breaks for fellow employees.
  • Maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Interact with customers respectfully and warmly.
  • Effectively communicate product knowledge to customers in an accessible manner.
  • Work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Promptly assist customers, accommodate special requests, and relay information to management.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Ability to lift grocery and bulk items weighing up to 50 lbs. frequently throughout the day.
  • Transport items from carts or dollies to shelves, typically within a short distance.
  • Operate carts, dollies, and electric pallet jacks as needed.
Special Considerations:
  • Availability to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
