About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Automation Systems Engineer to join our team at Leidos. This role is pivotal in advancing technologies shaping the future of transportation. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in hardware and software integration, testing, and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project teams, customers, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle—from initial concept to test plan execution. Ensure effective integration and communication to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Conduct simulation and field testing of automated vehicles and related infrastructure.
  • Adhere to project testing processes, from concept development to performance analysis.
  • Research and test emerging transportation technologies, developing hardware and software solutions.
  • Establish functional requirements and support planning and resource management for test campaigns.
  • Facilitate integration and testing efforts, including validation and verification of developed solutions.
  • Coordinate with development teams to resolve technical challenges and manage daily activities of engineers and technicians.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in a laboratory or test environment, developing and executing test plans and procedures for hardware and software.
  • Proficiency in testing software written in C++ and Python in a Linux environment, along with scripting skills in Python, Bash, and SQL.
  • Experience deploying and configuring Linux and Windows operating systems, with expertise in virtualization and hardware/software-in-the-loop testing.
  • Familiarity with engineering processes, quality assurance practices, and Agile Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Self-motivated and hands-on with a strong interest in hardware and software integration.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (requires three years of US residency).
  • Willingness to work on-site and travel to test locations in the US (approximately 15% travel) with a valid US driver's license.

Estimated Salary: $53,950 - $97,525 per annum
