The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina is seeking a qualified Elementary Education Specialist to lead a group of up to ten elementary school children in an interactive, curriculum-based tutoring atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities- Builds Effective Relationships: Establishes strong, authentic relationships with students, helping them connect with academic material, each other, and the YMCA.
- Delivers Academic Support: Engages students in standard-based review, provides academic support, assessment, and intervention.
- Reports Progress: Submits quarterly progress reports and connects with parents regarding student progress.
- Attends Meetings and Training: Participates in staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
- Follows YMCA Policies: Adheres to all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures and uniform policy.
- Ensures Curriculum Implementation: Ensures the curriculum is followed, materials are organized, and all supplies are put away daily, reporting damaged equipment as needed.
- NC Teaching Certification
- Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university and one to two years related experience or training
- Experience Working with Children and a diverse community
- Strong Communication Skills
- Ability to Communicate in Spanish preferred
- CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred
