Cytologist Job Description

Atlantic Health System is seeking a skilled Cytologist to join our team at the Cytology Department in Morristown, NJ.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform specimen preparation and analysis
  • Participate in the FNA biopsy service, including rapid on-site assessment to evaluate specimen adequacy
  • Document slide interpretation results of both GYN and Non-GYN Cytology cases
  • Document the number of slides read and the number of hours spent examining slides in each 24-hour period
  • Recognize and resolve any specimen-related problems or inconsistencies
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control: perform and document daily QC according to established laboratory protocol
  • Practice Standard Precautions and adhere to all other laboratory safety policies
  • Maintain appropriate licensure requirements
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in clinical, lab, physical, or biological science required
  • CT (ASCP) eligible or registered
  • Prior experience working in Cytology is a preferred
  • 1-3 years of clinical experience preferred
