Job Summary

The Shelter Support Worker will provide ongoing support for all onsite emergency shelter activities, including screening, registration, meal services, and assisting with shelter residents' basic needs. This role will work in conjunction with the shelter management team to monitor and provide appropriate services to support the emergency shelter population.


Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that mandated services to residents are met daily.
  • Facilitate client intake admissions and move-outs.
  • Support non-clinical needs of shelter residents, including greeting, meal distribution, and other support functions to ensure shelter residents' needs are being met.
  • Complete routine resident and facility checks to ensure the facility is free of potential hazards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned to ensure continuous operations.

Requirements
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support 24/7/365 shelter operations.
  • Willingness to be on emergency standby and deployed at short notice.
  • Ability to assess problems and develop solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service and teamwork.
  • Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and teamwork ability.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one (1) year of experience working in the customer service field. Experience working with emergency shelter populations is preferred.
