About the Role

">

The successful candidate will assist with the delivery of Physical Therapy services, including transportation, therapeutic exercises, and functional activities as outlined by the treatment plan. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and demonstrate a strong understanding of patient needs.

Responsibilities

">

The Patient Care Specialist will be responsible for:

">
  • Implementing treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the Physical Therapist (PT).">
  • Assisting the PT in carrying out therapeutic interventions designed to meet the patients' long-term goals, including posture training, strengthening exercise, endurance/cardiac training, balance exercises, coordination exercises, joint mobility and muscle lengthening, pain relief, functional skills training, and community re-entry training.">
  • Training patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs.">
  • Demonstrating use of gait, belt, and safety awareness, as well as demonstrating proper guarding techniques.">
  • Ordering and instructing patients in the use of prescribed equipment.">

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

">
  • A valid state PTA license required.">
  • Possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date.">
  • Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program.">
  • Current license or eligible for license under statutes in the state of practice.">
  • Prefer experience in a setting serving the same age/type of resident population served by this facility.">
  • Excellent oral and written communication (neat handwriting) and interpersonal skills.">
  • Ability to understand and follow the directions of the Physical Therapist and the policies and procedures of the facility.">
  • Ability to complete the following activities safely, and at times, for prolonged periods:">
  • Standing: Maintaining an upright position on the feet, especially for prolonged periods of time.">
  • Pulling: Applying force against an object for the purpose of moving it forward or away from the source of the force - pull force up to 35 lbs.">
  • Lifting: Raising an object from a lower to a higher position, or moving an object laterally, from position to position-Required to lift up to 50 lbs of force independently. May be required to lift over 50 lbs with the assistance of another person or a mechanical lift.">
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction away from the body.">
  • Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or moving surfaces.">
  • $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.">
  • This salary estimate is based on industry standards and location.">
