Psychiatric Advanced Practice Practitioner, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Specialist

The University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience, is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant to join our team of international leaders in advancing the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive, continuous, and personalized care to adults with developmental disabilities who have co-morbid mental health disorders.
- Collect comprehensive histories of new patients and conduct basic physical and psychosocial assessments.
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, other advance practice providers, and social workers to deliver high-quality care.
- Manage common episodic and chronic illnesses, administer medication and treatments as prescribed, and obtain treatment consents as needed.
- Provide counseling and health training, maintain accurate records, and participate in research activities.
- Provide direct supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff, including performance evaluations, disciplinary action, and approving time off.
- Nurse Practitioner: Master's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program, active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority, and active board certification in a psychiatric nursing specialty.
- Physician Assistant: Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program, active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority, and certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Nurse Practitioner: Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health as Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (PMHCNS-BC) or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- Physician Assistant: Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Psychiatry.
