Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior MEP Superintendent to join our team at Turner Construction. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and coordinating the work of subcontractors and trade labor on mechanical and electrical systems projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and make decisions related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and trade employee staffing levels.
  • Coordinate work among assigned trades to promote a coordinated project operation and resolve local area problems.
  • Manage the overall site safety program and ensure subcontractor compliance with Turner standards and applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Supervise and develop Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and interns, including providing input on performance appraisals.
  • Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements at all times.
  • Create schedules and determine sequencing of work, developing and implementing recovery strategies to maintain project schedule and budget.
  • Communicate with owners and architects/engineers regarding field issues, investigating and resolving such issues.
  • Manage the billing process, overseeing the monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Ensure that work is installed in compliance with and conforms to approved contract documents.
  • Work with the Engineer on coordination efforts for all mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and piping layouts for all trades on a master coordination set of drawings and 3D model, securing approval from architects and engineers.
  • Lead project inspections, startup, commissioning, turnover, and training process, and punchlist required for acceptance and handover of all systems.
  • Coordinate, direct, and monitor the activities of subcontractors and suppliers to ensure conformance with plans, specifications, local and national codes.
  • Review project changes in conjunction with the Project Engineer.
  • Keep detailed daily records of MEPS trade contractors' work progress.
  • Participate in preconstruction efforts, including constructability, logistics.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or at least four years of formal engineering or architectural experience and a minimum of six years of mechanical/electrical/plumbing construction experience. They will also possess knowledge of building construction, means and methods, scheduling, and cost control procedures, as well as proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite.

The successful candidate will be able to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules. They will also demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with owners, architects/engineers, and subcontractors.

Work Environment

The Senior MEP Superintendent will work on-site at the construction work site, where they will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments will be moderate to very loud.
