Position Overview

The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating various CNC machinery, including lasers, brake presses, and folders, to accurately cut, bend, punch, form, or straighten metal sheets and structural components according to detailed specifications.


Key Responsibilities

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Ensuring the quality of produced components and promptly reporting any discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Completing assigned tasks within designated timeframes and communicating any challenges to the supervisor.
  • Collaborating effectively with team members and keeping supervisors informed of any relevant developments.
  • Selecting and modifying programs as necessary to accommodate material tolerances and specifications.
  • Operating multiple CNC machines simultaneously, including lasers and brake presses, while maintaining skill proficiency across all equipment.
  • Identifying and reporting any mechanical or tooling issues to the supervisor without delay.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to processes and workflows.
  • Participating in required safety training and adhering to lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Executing daily maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory records and following established procedures for material handling.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Strong comprehension of technical documents, including safety guidelines, operational instructions, and blueprints.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurement and calculations.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address various operational challenges.

Physical Requirements

This position requires:

  • Regular physical activity, including standing, lifting, and manual handling of materials.
  • The ability to lift and move weights up to 50 pounds with mechanical assistance available.
  • Good vision capabilities, including close and distance vision.

Work Environment

Employees in this role may encounter:

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibrations.
  • A loud noise level typical of a manufacturing setting.
