About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Lighting Artist to join our team at Mediabistro. As a key member of our art department, you will be responsible for creating stunning lighting effects that bring our game worlds to life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of our lighting pipeline, ensuring seamless integration with our Unreal engine.
  • Collaborate with lighting and technical artists to elevate the composition of game environments, pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling.
  • Partner with animation and cinematics teams to light in-game and pre-rendered cinematics, delivering high-quality visuals that captivate our audience.
  • Create shot composition and rendering of key art and marketing shots, showcasing our game's unique atmosphere and mood.
  • Collaborate with Cinematic and VFX teams to solve complex technical lighting problems, driving innovation and excellence in our craft.
  • Troubleshoot issues in Blueprint, finding elegant solutions that meet our high standards.
  • Support art best practices and standards within the team, ensuring consistency and quality across all our projects.
  • Contribute to a positive, proactive, and agile work environment that fosters innovation and collaboration, driving our team's success.
  • Collaborate closely with the Lighting Lead to understand and uphold the visual style and direction for lighting, ensuring our game's unique identity shines through.
  • Contribute to and help maintain efficient lighting pipelines and workflows, streamlining our production process.
  • Research and share new techniques and technologies related to lighting, driving continuous development and improvement in our craft.
  • Work closely with other groups within the art department to achieve cohesive and visually stunning results, exceeding our audience's expectations.
  • Receive and apply constructive feedback as part of our iterative process, maintaining a positive attitude and a growth mindset.
  • Maintain the values of Mediabistro, upholding our commitment to excellence and innovation.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of real-time lighting experience in 3D AAA games, with a proven track record of generating final lighting and rendering.
  • Experience as a Senior Lighting Artist on one AAA title, with a deep understanding of lighting principles and techniques.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Art or Digital Media, or equivalent work experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in visual arts and design.
  • Demonstrated experience working with modern FPS engines and modern art pipelines, with a solid understanding of lighting tools and software.
  • Must be comfortable taking on responsibility for the development of complex lighting solutions and workflows, driving innovation and excellence in our craft.
  • Working knowledge of Lumen and Blueprint, with experience developing high-quality lighting under runtime constraints.
  • Experience working with a team of artists towards a common goal, with excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Able to discuss, support, and advocate for your opinions while being receptive to differing viewpoints, maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude.
  • Highly detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to embrace change for a fast-growing organization, with a strong work ethic and a passion for excellence.
