Position Overview

As a Senior Electrical Project Supervisor at Cherne Contracting, you will oversee all facets of electrical installation for extensive oil, gas, chemical, and industrial EPC construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily assessments of work for Safety, Quality, and Productivity. Ensure effective planning and communication for all operations under your supervision.
  • Identify and resolve issues as they arise. Set budgetary parameters for the project and guarantee adherence to cost control measures.
  • Deliver job safety training and promote awareness among all personnel.
  • Establish quality benchmarks for all tasks and ensure compliance with quality assurance and company standards.
  • Develop and manage project timelines (e.g., three-week, 90-day, manpower loading), coordinating efforts with other trades, departments, contractors, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct project teams by facilitating communication, coordination, and follow-up to achieve project goals and objectives; ensure project scope, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and understood.
  • Oversee the contributions from engineering, constructability, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams from detailed design through to commissioning and startup.
  • Establish project protocols in line with contractual documents and quality plans for all engineering tasks; manage all project controls, schedules, and budgets.
  • Act as the project representative with clients, constructors, subcontractors, and vendors during kick-off meetings, site visits, project reviews, and other engagements.
  • Coordinate training and compliance initiatives to ensure adherence to project procedures.
  • Identify and obtain necessary approvals for any changes in project scope, budget, or schedule.
  • Maintain continuous communication with clients, making adjustments as needed to meet client requirements within contractual obligations, or modifying project deliverables to align with client and Kiewit needs.
  • Ensure all deliverables are consistent with industry standards and comply with good engineering practices and applicable codes, as well as all relevant legal requirements.
  • Provide ongoing training and mentorship to entry-level and mid-level engineers to foster employee development.

Qualifications
10+ years of experience in the electrical construction sector, with a minimum of 5+ years in a supervisory capacity.
Direct oversight of EPC-related projects where the work was self-performed by your current employer.
Proficient in using software applications for project control and administration, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
Advanced understanding of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings, and related documents.
Proven ability to effectively supervise and assess craft performance.
Willingness to relocate and/or travel as required.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, specifications, and a comprehensive understanding of the NEC.
