Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Genitourinary Medical Oncology team at Duke Health Center at Southpoint.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis and treatment.
  • Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform complete physical examinations.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post-treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, and treatment toxicities.
  • Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level judgment, including prescribing medications.
  • Chart patient progress and maintain detailed and accurate health records.
  • Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics, and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
  • Participate in clinical research projects.
  • Collaborate with supervising and backup physicians and APP colleagues, and participate in education of patients, family members, new staff, students, and other learners.
Requirements
  • Nurse Practitioners: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • Certification: BLS required.
  • Licensure: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina for Nurse Practitioners; Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of oncology APP experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented clinic.
  • Willingness to be flexible and available to support the team.
  • Analytical thinking skills with curiosity and ability to investigate and diagnose.
  • Competence with technology.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Experience working independently and as a part of a team.
