Job Summary

The Truck Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of the company's trucking assets. This role requires a strong understanding of logistics and transportation management, as well as excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and implement best practices for measuring, managing, and reporting logistics costs and processes.
  • Identify synergies in logistics between family of companies and develop action plans to maximize operational efficiencies.
  • Negotiate road haul contracts and agreements with vendors.
  • Coordinate with the in-house maintenance team to ensure truck fleet operational readiness.
  • Partner with the Safety Leader to ensure outside trucking vendors comply with relevant safety requirements.
  • Prepare and issue trucking business reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments through key trade associations, government contacts, journals, seminars, and conferences.
  • Maintain performance measurements versus key competitors.
  • Develop a team to manage all aspects of company transportation services.
  • Develop a process to monitor local road transportation rates to keep competitive in the market.
  • Deal directly with customers looking to contract for hauling services.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and safety requirements for trucking operations.
  • Actively manage risks by implementing thorough safety processes.
  • Commit to managing and reducing incident rates.
Requirements
  • Trucking transportation experience.
  • 3-5 years logistics experience.
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in leadership positions/supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (or 5 years' experience in a similar role).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
