Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As a key member of our imaging services team, you will be responsible for performing radiographic procedures and related techniques to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer ionizing radiation to patients of all ages for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes.
  • Perform radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images at the request of and for interpretation by licensed independent practitioners.
  • Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to produce diagnostic information.
  • Recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of procedures and maintain a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique.
  • Possess, utilize, and maintain knowledge of radiation protection and safety.
  • Act as the primary liaison between patients, licensed independent practitioners, and other members of the support team.
  • Remain sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of patients through good communication, assessment, monitoring, and care skills.
  • Participate in quality improvement processes and continuous assessment of performance.
  • Think critically and use independent, professional, and ethical judgment in all aspects of work.
  • Engage in continuing education to enhance patient care, public education, knowledge, and technical competence.
Requirements
  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT-R)
  • Current Certification by ARRT Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers)
  • One year of previous work experience
  • Preferred: Previous work experience in an academic medical center environment and 1-3 years of radiologic technologist work experience
  • Education: Graduation from a JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology that is recognized by the ARRT
  • Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Radiologic Technology or closely related field from an accredited program
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent and intense customer interactions. The successful candidate must be able to adapt to frequent change and handle multiple priorities.

The physical demands of this position include lifting 20-50 pounds, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, reaching, and climbing. The mental and sensory demands include strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading, and logical thinking.
