POSITION SUMMARY: The Automotive Technician Trainee is responsible for organizing daily tasks by assessing service requirements and gathering necessary materials. This role involves performing vehicle maintenance tasks such as lubricating components, replacing filters, tires, and belts. The technician will ensure that fluids like coolant and window cleaner are at appropriate levels and maintain the vehicle's cleanliness by removing any waste from the interior. Additionally, the trainee will track service intervals, manage vehicle storage and retrieval, and assist in maintaining a safe working environment in accordance with company standards. Participation in training programs is essential for updating job knowledge. This apprenticeship is designed for a duration of one year, contingent upon satisfactory performance, with the potential for continued employment with Mountain Empire Older Citizens, Inc.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and hold a valid Virginia Driver's License.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating shop equipment.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Familiarity with safety protocols, including MSDS, hazardous material handling, and disposal procedures.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination.
- Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, and maintain compliance with ongoing testing requirements.
- Complete training in First Aid, CPR, Defensive Driving, and other relevant courses.
- Undergo a background investigation and Criminal Record Check.
- Willingness to work towards certification as a CSE Mechanic.
- Review, verify, and approve timesheets, vouchers, and reimbursement claims for supervised staff.
- Conduct annual evaluations for each department employee.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma is mandatory.
- ASE Certification and Virginia Safety Inspector License are preferred.
- Understanding of automotive safety practices is essential.
