We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Physician (Psychiatry)-BHIP Program Manager to join our team at the Orlando VA Healthcare System's Mental Health Service.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this position is approximately $250,000 - $300,000 per year, based on location and experience. Additionally, you will be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, retirement plans, and malpractice insurance.
Job Description
This announcement is amended to update the job requirements. As a Senior Psychiatric Program Manager, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric care to Veterans referred for Mental Health services within the Psychiatrist's approved privileges. You will serve as the medical subject matter expert within your assigned team and may be responsible for coordinating activities of other health service personnel, resolving problems affecting Veteran care, and providing appropriate education for the Veteran and/or family members regarding the Veteran's care, condition, and its management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric care in an outpatient setting, identifying Veterans' mental and medical health needs and designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans to meet these needs.
- Serve as the medical subject matter expert within your assigned team.
- Coordinate activities of other health service personnel, resolve problems affecting Veteran care, and provide appropriate education for the Veteran and/or family members.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed below:
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program (Psychiatry) leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Work Environment
The incumbent will work Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm, with possible overtime as needed. Travel may be required for visiting the Orlando VA CBOCs that are being managed by this position.
