Job Overview

General Overview:

The role is designed to enhance the understanding of the Smith & Richardson quality framework by supporting all personnel in fulfilling its standards. This includes executing First Article, in-process, and final product evaluations, conducting assessments, and overseeing the calibration of measurement instruments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Oversight (70%)
    • Conduct process capability assessments and manage PPAP/ISIR related tasks.
    • Gather data to create or update workmanship benchmarks.
    • Guide staff and management in completing quality documentation and deciding on the handling of non-conforming items.
    • Establish databases for various quality initiatives.
    • Propose enhancements for long-term quality systems or process optimizations.
    • Carry out initial, in-process, and final inspections as required.
    • Manage Quality System documentation.
  • Process Surveillance (10%)
    • Collect and format data, analyze recorded metrics, and provide summary reports to relevant managers.
    • Document nonconforming materials.
    • Organize quality records and client documentation.
    • Assist staff in utilizing correct measurement techniques.
  • Calibration Management (10%)
    • Perform in-house calibration of all measuring tools, including micrometers and calipers.
    • Coordinate external calibration of instruments as per schedule requirements.
    • Engage in vendor certification processes to minimize incoming inspections when feasible.
  • Internal Audit Participation (5%)
  • Client Correspondence (5%)
  • Additional Duties: As assigned.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Essential Skills:

  • Relevant mechanical expertise.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings or guidelines.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
