Job Summary
This is an individual contributor, credentialed actuary position that participates in Highmark's Actuarial Executive Development Program. The successful candidate will utilize subject matter expertise and advanced industry knowledge to define and diagnose problems, outline data requirements for studies or analyses, and devise insightful and creative solutions. The role requires accountability and ownership of results, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and present information to executive management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the time and resources of both themselves and others involved in cross-departmental projects, demonstrating responsiveness, confidence, and flexibility in the face of change.
- Utilize subject matter expertise and industry knowledge to define and diagnose problems, outline data requirements for studies or analyses, and devise insightful and creative solutions.
- Interact with stakeholders in a manner that fosters cooperation and teamwork, conveying engagement, competence, and ownership of outcomes.
- Exhibit a thorough understanding of corporate and division goals and values, applying corporate, professional, and industry knowledge and insight to all tasks under their control or influence.
- Proactively ensure the internal and external consistency of all work, demonstrating ownership and accountability of results.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
- 5 years of actuarial experience in the area of specialization.
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing FSA exams towards FSA Certification.
Skills
- Comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of actuarial principles, concepts, practices, and processes within two or more fields of specialization.
- Significant expertise to complete complex assignments and ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems.
- Develops, designs, and leads analytic frameworks to solve complex problems using innovative approaches.
