Job Description

The Eligibility Specialist is responsible for performing eligibility work related to various public assistance programs, including Food Assistance, Medical Programs, and Financial Assistance Programs. This role requires a strong understanding of program rules and policies as well as the operation of current prescribed eligibility computer systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial intake and ongoing eligibility determination for public assistance programs
  • Interpret rules and regulations of all program areas
  • Screen applications to verify programs being applied for
  • Conduct initial and ongoing program eligibility interviews and assessments by phone, face-to-face or during a home visit
  • Perform calculations and accounting functions necessary to establish eligibility and resolve client situations
  • Facilitate and/or coordinate processes and procedures to provide clients with assistance
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years office or public service experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, behavioral sciences or appropriately related degree is recommended
Salary:

$19.4-$23.24 per hour
