We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at UNC Rex Holly Springs Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain the operating room environment, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are properly sterilized and organized.
- Assist the surgeon and registered nurse in the intraoperative implementation phase of nursing practice, providing support and guidance as needed.
- Perform surgical counts and follow policies and procedures for incorrect counts and reports discrepancies appropriately.
- Label drugs and solutions, and monitor quantities used.
- Assist in the proper identification, preparation, handling, and labeling of surgical specimens.
- Actively participate in the planning and set up of instruments, supplies, and surgical drapes in an organized manner to provide optimal accessibility during the procedure.
- Recognize and modify scrubbing procedures based on pertinent information to develop modifications to standard approaches to care and communicate with the surgical team.
- Respond to surgical emergencies and follow hospitalwide emergency management plans.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; or Graduate of a Military Training Program in Surgical Technology; or Formal education/training may be substituted for individuals with 3+ years of prior experience as a surgical tech
- 0-3 years of experience as a surgical technologist
