Children's Minnesota is one of the largest pediatric health systems in the United States, delivering care exclusively to children from birth through young adulthood. The organization has been an independent and not-for-profit system since 1924, serving the Upper Midwest through two free-standing hospitals, nine primary care clinics, multiple specialty clinics, and seven rehabilitation sites.
Department Overview
The physical therapy department at Children's Minnesota evaluates and treats children with a variety of diagnoses, including gross motor development delay, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Down syndrome, and orthopedic injuries. The therapists work in conjunction with other interdisciplinary clinics, such as the Down syndrome clinic, to provide comprehensive care. They assist and train children and caregivers in the use of adaptive equipment to promote independence.
Job Summary
This inpatient casual position is responsible for the evaluation and provision of physical therapy services to children, including written documentation and verbal communication. The position requires providing patient/family/caregivers, staff, and student training, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and managing departmental equipment. The therapist must also manage time effectively and promote patient/family, provider, and intradepartmental satisfaction, all in accordance with Children's MN Standards of Behavior. This role is based in Minneapolis with the potential to float to the St. Paul hospital and could involve outpatient coverage if desired.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree from an accredited physical therapy program is required, along with Minnesota state licensure. Temporary licensure is accepted if accompanied by proof of passing the physical therapy board examination. BLS certification is also necessary. Pediatric experience is preferred.
