Job Summary

As a Medical Imaging Specialist at Excela Health, you will play a crucial role in performing diagnostic imaging examinations, including X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, and nuclear medicine, under the direct supervision of a registered imaging technologist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and review patient data to determine the optimal imaging procedure for suspected pathology
  • Verify patient identification and physician orders, and review patient charts to determine the best course of action
  • Provide information to patients about the procedure, verify consent, and answer any questions
  • Administer contrast agents according to established guidelines, and monitor patients for adverse reactions
  • Obtain and analyze lab values, and determine the appropriate type and dose of contrast agent to administer
  • Position patients to obtain diagnostic images, and utilize CR equipment to maximize image quality
  • Send images to PACS for interpretation by radiologists, and archive images to CDs as needed
  • Document patient care, exam, and patient history in the appropriate record, and verify correct orders in RIS/HIS
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED, or higher level of education
  • Enrollment in and completion of an accredited Diagnostic Imaging program
  • ARRT certification exam for Radiologic Technologist within one year of completion of accredited Diagnostic Imaging program
  • Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to ionizing radiation, and the ability to lift and transfer patients as needed.
