Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Therapist Senior to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions to youth in our care. Your expertise will be essential in evaluating high-risk/suicidal youth and developing individual treatment plans. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions to youth in our care.
  • Evaluate high-risk/suicidal youth to determine the potential for self-injury or injury to others.
  • Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests to inform treatment plans.
  • Attend team and/or board meetings to provide recommendations regarding the release of youth.
  • Assist in the development of individual treatment plans that address the unique needs of each youth.
  • Conduct research and provide recommendations to inform treatment decisions.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as psychology or counseling.
  • Current, active Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE) independent license.
  • Two years of experience in providing mental health services to youth or young adults.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
