Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Admissions Counselor to join our team at Agave Ridge, a leading provider of mental health services. As an Admissions Counselor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth transition of patients into our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to inquiries about our facility in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families to ensure a positive experience.
  • Perform benefit eligibility checks to ensure patients have active benefits at the time of admission.
  • Collaborate with medical and psychiatric personnel to ensure accurate referrals and admissions.
  • Coordinate admission and transfer processes between referral sources and levels of care.
  • Maintain knowledge of milieu management and communicate projected admissions to internal representatives.
  • Ensure all clinical information is received prior to patient admission and schedule pre-admission assessments as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate medical record documentation to support authorization and admission.
  • Complete initial pre-authorization for treatment and admission within payor timeframe guidelines.
  • Admit patients in the registration and accounting system and complete all admission and consent forms.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards customers and resolve complaints in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a social services field (psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, health administration, nursing) or RN preferred.
  • Three or more years' experience in mental/behavioral health working with individuals in a clinical or observational capacity preferred.
  • Experience in the managed care pre-certification process, level of care assessments, and utilization preferred.
