Maternal Child Health Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Maternal Child Health Specialist to join our team at Guidehouse. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Labor and Delivery unit through various clerical functions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform accurate pre-appointment coordination and registration of expecting or laboring patients and newborns.
- Collect and analyze demographic, insurance, and other information from patients, guarantors, and other sources to ensure financial clearance of scheduled procedures/services.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies by procuring patient signatures on necessary documents.
- Inform patients of hospital policies and explain payment policies in a clear and concise manner.
- Provide financial assistance and charity care information to patients as needed.
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies to ensure adherence to ethical and professional standards.
- Protect patient confidentiality and maintain HIPAA compliance.
- Perform registration functions in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
- Verify patient eligibility through third-party payers and online services.
- Collaborate with hospital departments to resolve issues and ensure seamless patient experiences.
- Serve as a mentor and preceptor to new associates.
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED)
- 1+ years of hospital/medical/emergency department, patient registration, or insurance verification experience
- Bilingual (English & Spanish)
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite offerings (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Associate's degree and/or Revenue Cycle certifications
- Experience in a hospital or clinic environment, health insurance company, managed care organization, or other healthcare financial service setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology
