Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Structural Fitter 1st Class to join our team at Ameri-Force. As a key member of our fabrication facility, you will be responsible for working with industrial structural fitting, assembly, and welding industry terminologies, blueprint reading, measurements, and job specifications to build integrally complete erection systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fluent understanding of job specifications, blueprint reading, target point measurements, true/plumb/square checking, and torque requirements for large industrial structural steel systems.
  • Cutting, prepping, fitting, and tacking small to large HSS box tubes, angle, W-members, flat plate, etc., from various material types, using isometric and structural drawings, while adhering to specific fit tolerance requirements.
  • Selecting, measuring, hand dressing, scoring, and cutting metal surfaces for welding processes, using torch, air arc, plasma, grinder, power saws, hand tools, etc.
  • Installation knowledge of structural system hangers, supports, braces, etc., from temporary through jamb-nut completion.
  • Strong structural aptitude and problem-solving skills to understand and follow instructions.
  • Accountability for completion of daily work assignments, monitoring quality, safety, and health regulations.
  • Operating overhead cranes and forklifts, adhering to industry standard practices of safe rigging systems and techniques.
  • Safely and efficiently directing and monitoring two or more helpers.
  • Documentation of quality reporting methods employed per SEA Quality Standards.
  • Compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements, and physical/medical qualification to wear required PPE per OSHA standards.
Requirements
  • Basic math and language skills.
  • Threading, grinding, welding, brazing, rigging, plasma cutting, gas arc cutting.
  • 5+ years' related experience or training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years' experience in Industrial Structural Fitting.
  • Tack welding ability.
  • Some vocational technical training.
Work Environment

This position operates out of a fabrication facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
