Critical Care Nurse

The Critical Care Float Pool RN is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for managing the nursing care of critically ill patients in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Carry out physician orders with precision and attention to detail.
- Administer prescribed medications, perform wound care, and monitor vital signs to ensure patient safety.
- Provide respiratory and ventilator management, as well as monitoring and education to patients and families.
- Coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless transitions and optimal outcomes.
- Communicate patient condition effectively using computerized documentation systems.
- Instruct and educate patients and families on disease management and self-care.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
- Provide age and culturally appropriate care to meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Orient and mentor new staff members to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
- Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Requirements:
- BSN preferred, but ASN with enrollment in BSN program is also accepted.
- Active RN license within the state of practice.
- 2 years of current acute care hospital critical care experience.
- Current certifications required: BCLS/ACLS upon hire, NIHSS within 90 days. Preferred: CCRN.
- Passing score on Critical Care Test/Rhythm interpretation examination.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds, and exposure to patient elements and handling of emergencies and critical patient incidents.
- Ability to multitask with limited direction.
- Advanced knowledge of critical care departments within the facility.
