About the Role:

The Radiation Therapist II - Simulation and Treatment Specialist will play a crucial role in the delivery of high-quality radiation therapy treatments to patients. This position requires a strong understanding of radiation safety protocols and the ability to operate complex equipment with precision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer radiation treatments as prescribed by the radiation oncologist, ensuring accurate and safe delivery of treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of treatment simulations and delivery, including EMR documentation.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs, radiation safety, and training of staff/students to ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Perform simulation procedures, fabricate treatment immobilization devices, and participate in imaging and alignment procedures as directed by the radiation oncologist.
  • Schedule simulation and treatment appointments, facilitate communication with patients and staff, and capture and verify charges for services rendered.
  • Provide patient education and associated documentation, adhering to radiation safety protection guidance and ALARA principles.
  • Utilize incident reporting and learning systems to report near misses, variances, and unsafe conditions.
  • Perform machine, equipment, and treatment plan quality assurance, actively participating in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement programs.
  • Follow department and organization policies and procedures, and perform clinical training of radiation oncology staff as required.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in radiation therapy.
  • Board certified in radiation therapy from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • BLS certification as a healthcare provider or obtain within 6 months of employment as a radiation therapist.
  • Two years prior experience working as a radiation therapist.
