St. Peter's Health Partners is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to provide crisis and consultation services on behalf of Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. The hospital offers a variety of specialized inpatient and outpatient services, including a 350-bed community hospital with inpatient Adult and Adolescent Psychiatric Units.

Position Details:

  • The Psychiatrist will evaluate and treat patients with a broad range of mental health challenges and work collaboratively with Hospitalists, Emergency Medicine providers, specialists, and community providers.
  • The psychiatrist will evaluate patients and make recommendations regarding psychiatric treatment and disposition planning in the ED crisis and on medical and surgical units.
  • ED consultations are primarily geared toward safety and initial stabilization and disposition planning.
  • Consultations on medical and surgical units focus primarily on patients with mental illness who have comorbid medical illness while in the hospital.
  • Position hours are Monday thru Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
  • Call: All call is paid extra, usually provider volunteered. Typical call schedule would be 1 weeknight (telephone only) every 4 weeks and 1 weekend (in-person) every 8 weeks.

Requirements:

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • Experience treating an adult psychiatric patient population
  • Fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine/Consultation Liaison preferred
  • Experience in an inpatient setting or ED/crisis is also preferred
  • DEA Licensure/NYS licensure required

St. Peter's Health Partners offers a comprehensive salary and compensation package that includes:
