Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Water Treatment Operator Trainee to join our team. As an Operator Trainee, you will be responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of our water treatment facilities. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in the water treatment industry.
Key Responsibilities- Perform checks on the condition of the water plant at the beginning of the assigned shift by reviewing logs and notes.
- Assist in the analysis of all stages of the water treatment processes to ensure water quality.
- Make adjustments necessary to maintain water quality, pressures, and adequate quantities of water as directed.
- Calibrate instruments and equipment.
- Perform and document routine laboratory tests and analyses.
- Backwash filters to ensure proper filtration by removing trapped particulates.
- Observe and assist in performing preventive and emergency maintenance on equipment.
- Perform various other routine duties to include building/grounds maintenance, janitorial, and preventative maintenance.
- Read and record meters, gauges, and control devices.
- Record data and activities during work shifts on shift log sheets, logbooks, and computers.
- Operate motors, pumps, valves, generators, and specialized equipment and machinery.
- Collect samples from designated points, perform physical and chemical tests, and record results.
- Operate heavy and light equipment, forklift, pallet jacks, overhead hoist, and mowing equipment.
- Use various hand tools.
- Clean out settling basins, hydrotreators, filters, and wash water holding tanks, as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 0-2 years of experience in the water industry.
- Treatment Plant Operator Trainee certification required.
- Valid driver's license with ability to pass a motor vehicle check.
The Water Treatment Operator Trainee will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. This position has the potential for exposure to water, wastewater, chemicals, loud noises, toxic fumes, oils, lubricants, dust, pollen, and mechanical equipment. The physical demands of this job include frequent standing, stooping, walking, sitting, and climbing. The ability to lift up to 55 pounds is required.
