**Job Summary**

Renton Technical College seeks a skilled Maintenance Mechanic 3 to support its facilities and grounds services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring the college's facilities are well-maintained and safe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate multicultural competence and create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality, complete and process facilities work orders, positively interact with college staff, observe shop safety, shop organization, and the care/inventory of shop tools and equipment.
  • Assist in the daily inspection of campus facilities for emergent repair needs, perform all building and equipment maintenance and repair as requested, diagnose system failures and take corrective action, do scheduled maintenance on control systems.
  • Maintain equipment service and maintenance schedules, perform preventive maintenance on equipment, move equipment, furniture, and materials within central campus and satellite facilities, maintain two-way communication during assigned work duties.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing, with college employees, departments, and outside agencies, perform other related tasks as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds, ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and diagnose all building maintenance systems and equipment.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade and one year of work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, and repair work.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly, climb ladders to heights of 20 feet, and be on your feet for an 8-hour shift, ability to work overhead, from ladders, and in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Applicants possessing skills in more than one trade will be preferred, ability to maintain confidentiality, think critically, and exercise independent judgment required.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrated attention to detail required as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks, and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
