- Repair and replace pumps, motors, flow control valves, directional control valves, and adjust pressure systems.
- Make replacement hydraulic hose assemblies, troubleshoot hydraulic systems, and remove and replace tires and wheels, drive chains, bearing assemblies, and weather seals.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical circuits, hydraulic circuits, and mechanical systems.
- Start up and operate loading bridges, interface with programmable logic controllers, and perform all general and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain various records, including time records and daily activity logs, and prepare labor and material estimates, requisitions, work orders, reports, and drawings as required.
- Operate aerial work platforms as needed.
- Two (2) years of experience in industrial or commercial maintenance work, depending on the area of assignment or closely related experience.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, and labor methods commonly employed in repairing, renovating, or reconstructing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment.
- Knowledge of welding, electrical circuits, motor control circuits, programmable logic controllers, carpentry, complex hydraulic systems, mechanical systems, painting, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods in all weather.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and read control panels and maintenance-related manuals.
- Ability to demonstrate skill and proficiency in using tools and equipment used in the maintenance and renovation of advanced mechanical equipment.
- Five (5) years of experience in repair and maintenance of hydraulic equipment, industrial, plant, electrical power, lighting systems, welding, and programmable logic controls.
- Completing vocational training/apprenticeship in electrical, hydraulic, and electronic controls and systems.
- Certified as Industrial Hydraulic Technician (Fluid Power Society).
- Experience with fiber equipment.
- Ability to read, understand, and convert metric measurements.
This position involves routine and frequent exposure to traffic and moving machinery. The physical demands of this job include performing medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, stretching, or lifting all of the time, and exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis.
