Museum Security Monitor Job Description

At Middlebury College, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Museum Security Monitor to join our team. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our museum, its visitors, and our staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol the museum building and grounds to identify potential safety hazards and suspicious activity.
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies, including fires, medical emergencies, and conflicts.
  • Manage incidents using problem-solving, mediation, and de-escalation strategies.
  • Complete detailed incident reports and maintain a professional log of shift activity.
  • Provide general security services, including locking and unlocking doors, arming and disarming the burglar alarm system, and monitoring the camera system.
  • Interact with the campus community and visitors to educate them on safety and security protocols.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to complete specialized on-the-job training.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in various technology systems and software programs.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and make sound judgments in emergency situations.
