The Lead Insurance Specialist is tasked with overseeing the implementation and management of Burns & McDonnell's comprehensive insurance strategy. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the procurement, renewal, and compliance of the organization's insurance portfolio.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with insurance brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
  • Evaluate external contracts and provide guidance on insurance stipulations and potential liabilities.
  • Collect and assess necessary underwriting documentation.
  • Manage the issuance of Certificates of Insurance for various projects.
  • Act as a liaison among the firm, insurance brokers, adjusters, and legal representatives involved in claims.
  • Consult with internal and external stakeholders to stay informed about changes in exposure or operational risks in the insurance landscape.
  • Present findings and recommendations to the Leadership Board.
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain high-caliber employee-owners.
  • Lead the insurance team, coordinating tasks and initiatives effectively.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Interpret and communicate the organization's policies, objectives, and goals to team members.
  • Ensure adherence to overall quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with 8 years of relevant experience in the insurance sector, particularly in commercial insurance for engineering and construction projects. Experience in corporate or agency settings is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial property/casualty coverages and bonds.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to positively influence, lead, and manage organizational change.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; adept at presenting complex information clearly to all levels of staff, management, and clients.
  • Proficient project management skills with a strategic outlook.
  • Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
