Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in the patient care team at StoneSprings Hospital Center, providing high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the department's standards and the relevant state and specialty's scope and standards of practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
Requirements
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Neonate Resuscitation certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist certification.
  • Associate Degree.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT), or RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP).
