Job Summary
The Colville Tribes is seeking a highly skilled Natural Resources Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing tasks associated with the management of fisheries resources, including determining the presence or absence of fish, monitoring environmental conditions in lakes and streams, and evaluating the effectiveness of fish stocking programs.
Responsibilities

- Conduct fieldwork, including collecting and analyzing data, and maintaining accurate records.
- Collaborate with other team members to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including tribal members, community groups, and other government agencies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and technologies related to natural resource management.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, crew, and the general public.
- Organize and prioritize work to achieve results, goals, and objectives on time.
- Maintain equipment and perform basic repairs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED and satisfactory work history required for Natural Resource Technician I.
- For Natural Resource Technician II, requires a High School Diploma or GED and 36 months progressively responsible experience equivalent to the Technician I or equivalent level, related to wildlife, natural resource management, or other closely related field.
- Requires a valid driver's license and be eligible for the Tribes' vehicle insurance and maintain throughout employment.
- Driving record must qualify for a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operators Identification card.
- Requires a Washington State boater's safety course within 90 days of employment.
- Requires demonstrated knowledge and skill to perform the functions of the position.
- Requires knowledge of Tribal fish and wildlife codes, laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Requires knowledge of standard fishery assessment techniques and biological data collection.
- Requires accurate identification of freshwater fish species of the Columbia River basin.
- Requires the ability to do basic repairs and conduct routine equipment maintenance.
- Requires the ability to efficiently use a computer daily for data entry.
- Requires the skill of attention to detail.
- Requires experience using hand and power tools, and proper care and maintenance of tools.
- Requires sufficient knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation to prepare professional correspondence.
- Requires sufficient human relations skill to work productively and cooperatively with diverse teams, exercise patience when dealing with internal and external customers, and convey technical concepts.
- Requires the ability to apply standard fisheries-related laboratory and field methods to gather data.
- Requires the ability to accurately identify freshwater fish species of the Columbia River basin.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, crew, and the general public.
- Requires the ability to organize and prioritize work to achieve results, goals, and objectives on time.
- Requires the ability to operate equipment, including hand and power tools and sampling gear, safely and effectively.
