Responsibilities

The Certified Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in facilitating surgical procedures by ensuring that all necessary sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment are prepared and available. This position requires maintaining a sterile environment and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Upholding the mission and values of the organization.
  • Functioning as a scrub person during surgical and invasive procedures by:
    • Gathering and organizing supplies and equipment for the procedure;
    • Preparing and managing sterile instruments and supplies;
    • Collaborating with the RN circulator on accounting procedures;
    • Assisting in the placement of sterile drapes;
    • Providing necessary instruments and supplies to the surgical team;
    • Maintaining an orderly sterile field;
    • Ensuring the sterility of the field and taking corrective actions as needed;
    • Preparing sterile dressings.
  • Cleaning and preparing surgical instruments for processing and transporting them to decontamination areas.
  • Assisting with the post-procedure cleaning of the surgical room and preparing it for subsequent patients.
  • Participating in ongoing educational and competency verification activities relevant to scrub person duties.
  • Maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program.

Required Licensure and Certifications:
Certified Surgical Technologist
BLS – CPR certification within 5 days.

Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
Experience with a variety of advanced surgical equipment.

Compensation:
$35.74 per hour
