ROLE DESCRIPTION:
As a Vehicle Compliance Specialist in the CVSD, you will be integral in managing consumer grievances related to various motor vehicle issues, including sales disputes, unauthorized towing, warranty claims, and titling concerns involving licensed dealers in Connecticut. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Evaluating complaints and conducting thorough investigations.
- Mediating disputes between consumers and licensed dealerships.
- Striving for equitable resolutions to ensure consumer satisfaction and adherence to motor vehicle regulations.
ABOUT OUR AGENCY
At the State of Connecticut DMV, we are committed to safeguarding the health and safety of the motoring public through education, outreach, and enforcement in areas such as vehicle safety inspections, heavy-duty diesel emission testing, and traffic enforcement.

This role is accountable for independently executing a full range of professional tasks in administration, research, planning, legal matters, management analysis, and customer service, or assisting the manager of a medium-sized operation.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

- Oversees agency project management initiatives.
- Prepares reports on administrative, budgetary, research, and management analysis.
- Conducts research and analysis in assigned areas.

- Ensures compliance with grant contracts.
- Provides training and consultative services to agency staff.
- Drafts agency procedures and modifies forms as necessary.
- Facilitates communication between units and other agencies.
- Mediates and resolves disputes.
- Explains statutes and regulations to the public and agency staff.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Knowledge of motor vehicle statutes, regulations, and agency functions.
- Skills in interpersonal communication and project management.
- Ability to prepare reports and analyze problems effectively.
Six years of technical experience in planning, management analysis, research, administrative, or customer service functions, with one year at an advanced technical level in a motor vehicle environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with dealer and repairer licensing laws.
- Experience in conducting motor vehicle research and investigations.
- Experience in report writing and sharing findings with stakeholders.
- Experience in conflict resolution and mediation techniques.
