Job Title: Shift Supervisor

BronxWorks is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Shift Supervisor to join our Homeless Outreach Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and connecting them with essential resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise outreach personnel during overnight shifts, ensuring a safe and effective team dynamic.
  • Train staff in safety measures on a regular basis, prioritizing their well-being and the well-being of our clients.
  • Collaborate with Outreach Team leadership to address staff concerns and optimize field operations.
  • Ensure compliance with incident reporting protocols, maintaining a culture of transparency and accountability.
  • Conduct regular field outreach with the outreach team, engaging with chronically homeless individuals and building meaningful relationships.
  • Document all interactions with clients in our system of record, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of social services and community resources, empowering our team to provide holistic support.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to our team's success.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, held for at least one year.
  • One year of homeless outreach or related work experience; ability to engage and build rapport with populations with high support needs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to represent BronxWorks at functions and meetings.
  • Excellent organizational, teambuilding, and leadership skills, with a focus on detail-oriented and resourceful work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology.
  • Bilingual/multilingual preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather.
