Job Summary

Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team in North Charleston, South Carolina. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems, and completing detailed mechanical inspections and repairs.

Responsibilities
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems
  • Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks and interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Three years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
Benefits
  • Hourly pay: $27.50 per hour
  • Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained up to $700
  • Quarterly bonus: Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter
  • Sign-on bonus: Ryder pays $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
  • Annual merit pay increases every year
  • On-the-job paid training
