Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of tasks assigned by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) to bolster our information assurance and cybersecurity programs.
  • Conduct security authorization activities in line with Risk Management Framework (RMF) policies, including the development of System Security Plans (SSPs) and Risk Assessment Reports.
  • Maintain a robust operational security posture by ensuring that security policies, standards, and procedures are effectively implemented.
  • Perform comprehensive vulnerability and risk assessments to facilitate Assessment & Authorization (A&A) processes.
  • Analyze system audit logs to detect unusual activities and potential threats to our network resources.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans and identify weaknesses within security systems.
  • Ensure that cybersecurity solutions and compensating controls effectively mitigate identified risks.
  • Apply a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity policies and principles to safeguard classified information systems.
  • Identify security gaps in our architecture and provide recommendations for risk management.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders to address computer security incidents and ensure compliance with vulnerability standards.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation within government record-keeping systems.
  • Manage configuration for security-relevant software, hardware, and firmware.
  • Conduct risk analyses for significant changes to applications or systems.
  • Contribute to the Risk Management Framework process and related documentation.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Information Assurance/Security roles.
  • At least 5 years of direct experience with FISMA and NIST Information Security Guidelines.
  • Proven experience in conducting vulnerability and risk assessments.
  • In-depth knowledge of RMF processes for obtaining and maintaining system Authorization to Operate (ATO).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in developing effective policies for Federal or DoD Information Security Programs.
  • Familiarity with Security Control Assessments in accordance with NIST standards.
  • Experience with risk analysis and assessment determinations.
  • Proficiency in using eMASS and Xacta.

Education and Certification:

Must possess active certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or CISA (equivalent to DoD 8570 IAM 2). A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with additional experience potentially substituting for educational qualifications.
