Position: Lead/Senior Java Developer
The Client is in search of a Lead/Senior Java Developer to assist in the architecture, development, unit testing, and deployment of a sophisticated multi-tiered fuel and retail cross-marketing system.
The selected candidate will take charge of the design, development, testing, and deployment of our distributed applications. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting production challenges and adapting frameworks and industry best practices, executing unit and performance testing, and coordinating these tasks within the scrum team.
Additionally, the candidate will collaborate with the Quality Assurance and Customer Support teams to investigate and resolve software bugs and issues identified during QA, beta, and production phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and resolve intricate software issues, providing solutions using Java and related technologies.
- Engage with business users to comprehend business requirements, challenges, and client processes.
- Develop, test, maintain, and support high-performance, innovative web-based applications that align with business and client needs while adhering to departmental standards.
- Offer recommendations for application and system enhancements.
- Conduct quality assurance testing for all programs created or modified, along with any other affected applications.
- Prepare necessary documentation as per departmental standards.
- Mentor and coach fellow team members.
- Participate in scrum team meetings to define and document application requirements.
- Perform code reviews and system design as necessary.
- Adhere to project development and deployment processes.
- Ensure development aligns with industry standards and best practices.
- Provide off-hour support as required.
- Collaborate with Architects on system design and solutions.
- Identify and recommend solutions to optimize application performance.
- Effectively communicate complex technical concepts both verbally and in writing.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 10+ years in developing Enterprise Java Applications.
- Extensive hands-on experience in Java J2EE application development, utilizing object-oriented design, n-tier architecture, and MVC frameworks.
- Implemented various enterprise architecture patterns.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize throughout the SDLC process.
- Familiarity with UI stack development technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS).
- Extensive experience with Java technology frameworks (Dependency Injection, ORM, Message Brokers).
- Experience with NoSQL (Cassandra, Redis) and RDBMS (preferably Oracle) databases.
- Experience working on complex, mission-critical applications.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing REST/SOAP interfaces.
- Experience in an Agile team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with high-volume, high-availability transactional applications.
- Ability to mentor other engineers on the team.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to best design and coding practices.
- Experience with Web and Application Servers (preferably WebSphere & JBoss).
- Familiarity with secure coding practices and OWASP TOP 10.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Linux.
- Familiarity with Sonar, Jenkins.
- Knowledge of Gradle.
- Experience with Docker containers.
- Proficiency in Spring Boot.
- Experience with AWS Cloud.
- Experience leading a team of 3 to 5 developers.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
