Position Overview:
The Practical Nurse Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care within a dynamic healthcare environment. This position is integral to the Transplant Clinic, where the focus is on patient-centered approaches and comprehensive support for individuals and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Practical Nurse, you will:
1. Integrate clinical skills and theoretical knowledge to effectively address the needs of patients and their families.
2. Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote wellness, prevent illness, and provide comfort to patients.
3. Deliver and meticulously document age-appropriate care based on medical directives and a multidisciplinary care plan.
4. Administer prescribed medications safely, while being vigilant about potential interactions and incompatibilities.

Licensure and Certification Requirements:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- Current LPN licensure in Virginia or eligibility for licensure.
- AHA BLS Certification or an equivalent certification.

Experience:
Experience requirements may vary based on specific transitional assignments. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in acute care settings relevant to the area of practice.

Educational Background:
Applicants must be graduates of a Board of Nursing approved School of Practical Nursing.

Work Environment:
Practical Nurses are expected to work across all shifts, including weekends and holidays. Shift rotations and schedules will be determined in collaboration with the Nurse Manager or Practice Manager to meet unit needs.

Physical and Emotional Demands:
This role requires:
- Physical stamina for lifting and prolonged standing or sitting.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with frequent interactions and changes.
