Prep Cook

Alaska Christian College is seeking a skilled Prep Cook to join our food service team. As a key member of our kitchen operations, you will be responsible for preparing food according to established menus and baking standards.

• Monitor and maintain compliance with health, safety, and fire regulations in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Prepare and cook food to meet quality and presentation standards.
• Manage food and equipment inventories to ensure efficient operations.
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace through regular cleaning and sanitizing.
• Assist with catering events and other duties as assigned.

• Achieve and maintain AK Food certification/food handlers' card.
• Develop and apply knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control techniques.
• Possess strong knife skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Understand and apply knowledge of catering operations, garnish, and food presentation.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and management.
• Work independently and as part of a team to achieve kitchen goals.

This position requires frequent standing, walking, and lifting in a commercial kitchen environment. Must be able to lift 40 pounds on an occasional basis and maintain adequate sight to perform job responsibilities.

Professional chef attire is required, including clean and well-kept jeans, black pants, and supportive closed-toe shoes. Hair must be neat and secured away from the face during food preparation and serving.
