The Role You Will Play:

The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for executing all essential routine respiratory care tasks for acute or critically ill patients across neonatal, pediatric, or adult populations. This role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include initiating and maintaining appropriate therapies, including life support techniques and equipment. The therapist will provide preventive, supportive, and corrective interventions related to the cardio-pulmonary system in designated patient care areas, adhering to established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and all relevant regulations and standards. Competency in all applicable advanced clinical skills must be demonstrated and consistently maintained. This role also involves actively participating in exceptional customer service and fostering respectful relationships with all individuals. Compliance with AdventHealth's Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations is essential.

§ Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement. Assists in clinical training and mentoring of new staff, serving as a resource for less experienced therapists. Supports the hospital and department's mission, goals, and performance metrics. Adheres to safety regulations and practices standard precautions consistently. Accurately documents and charges for procedures to meet quality standards set by the department and hospital.
§ Responds promptly to all Code Blue emergencies, providing CPR in accordance with American Heart Association guidelines, and performs additional duties as assigned. Responsible for airway maintenance, including the proper use of manual resuscitators, airway insertion, suctioning, extubation, assisting with tracheostomy procedures, and providing procedural respiratory support.
§ Effectively utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to evaluate the effectiveness of therapy in a cost-effective and timely manner, making appropriate recommendations and adjustments per departmental protocols. Conducts respiratory therapies and oxygen delivery methods, recommending the most efficient delivery techniques as per established protocols.
