UltraPlay Systems Inc is seeking a skilled Welder I to join our team. As a Welder I, you will be responsible for safely welding metal parts together using specified wire welding processes to produce high-quality assemblies.
Key Responsibilities- Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
- Select appropriate tools, materials, and gas ratios for different jobs.
- Prepare both metals and work surfaces for the production process.
- Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
- Cuts work piece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.
- Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form.
- May install or repair equipment.
- Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
- Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
- Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
- Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
- Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
- Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
- Uses templates and other work aids to hold and align parts to ensure quality and consistency of parts produced.
- Inspection, diagnosing problems and carry out appropriate checking/testing.
- Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
- Attendance is considered important; must be willing to work overtime and be at work each scheduled workday.
- Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with work.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Measure and cut materials to meet the specifications of the project.
- Set an example for team members of commitment, application of skill, work ethics and habits and personal character.
- Looking for a strong safety-minded, enthusiastic person with a can-do attitude. Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving ability. Must have excellent work ethic with strong communication skills to engage with both the customer and internal teams.
