Shift: 12-Hour Day Shift
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week
Experience: One year of experience preferred; nursing skills and knowledge base specific to the specialty.
License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) - Required
Certifications:
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Required
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification - Required

Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Care Planning:
  • Assess and address the physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data.
  • Evaluate patient's response and intervene to ensure optimal outcomes.

Patient Education and Advocacy:
  • Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health and safety and rights of each patient.
  • Provide education to patients and families based on their readiness, needs, and abilities, and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching.

Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Engage patients as full partners in compassionate and coordinated care, respecting individual preferences, values, and needs.
  • Provide relationship-based care, considering cultural differences and the diversity of human experience.
  • Delegate tasks effectively using time and resources to ensure high-quality, cost-effective patient care.

Professional Development:
  • Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes.
  • Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed and seek out continuing education opportunities.
  • Maintain professional records, evaluate personal integrity and practice, and seek to achieve goals identified during evaluations.

Quality Improvement and Research:
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities; use healthcare research to enhance role performance and knowledge of professional issues.

Requirements:
  • Ability to float to any location within sixty (60) miles of the original assignment location or identified float zone.
  • Competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
  • Ability to delegate to non-RN personnel following State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
