Report to: Front End Manager

Position Summary: As a Retail Sales Associate at Times Supermarkets, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our customers while operating a cash register to ring up various items in exchange for currency.

Job Duties:

• Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner, addressing them by name when possible.

• Assist customers with their purchases, answering questions and providing product information as needed.

• Bag groceries efficiently, using the least number of bags possible.

• Verify and balance the cash register at the beginning and end of each shift.

• Process payments from customers, including cash, credit, debit, EBT, and checks.

• Verify and process WIC checks, purchase orders, merchandise certificates, and coupons.

• Check identification for tobacco and liquor purchases, as well as payment by credit card and check, following established company procedures.

• Maintain accurate register procedures to meet company performance standards and price integrity.

• Refill bag wells, keep the front end area clean and organized, and perform duties of a courtesy clerk.

• Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager.

Capabilities:

• Stand for long periods of time.

• Carry up to 40 pounds and perform frequent motions of arms and hands to ring up and bag groceries.

• Push and pull up to seven shopping carts during retrieval.

• Use proper safety procedures.

• Listen to directions and follow through independently.

Job Skills:

• Previous experience working with the public.

• Basic mathematical knowledge and cash handling experience preferred.

• Working knowledge of produce codes required, with the ability to differentiate between different produce products.

Environment:

• Work in an air-conditioned environment, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, and wind while retrieving wagons or helping customers to their car.

• Fast-paced environment.

Other:

• Must be 18 years of age to ring the register per company policy.
